September 2026

The air is becoming crisp with just a hint of chill. Leaves haven’t all turned yet here on the North Coast Rain Forest. We’re still quite green in various shades. Except my maples… they are turning gorgeous shades of red, orange, yellow, and magenta.

September used to bring the smell of wood smoke,, chalk dust, and warm chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven as we walked in the door. “Hey, mom, I’m home!” There were always carried a supply of sharpened #2 yellow pencils, erasers, a ruler, spiral notebooks, and a new backpack.

Alas, much of these memories are what fills in my history. Now my grandchildren use iPads and calculators, or calculators on the iPad. lol. Instead of carrying half the library on one’s back, everything fits in one small tablet. And, they don’t have to walk 5 miles uphill in the snow… in fact, neither did I!

What are some of. your favorite September memories? Drop me a note and don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter. Caio
